Glebe House Museum & The Gertrude Jekyll Garden

Come experience the Glebe House Museum and The Gertrude Jekyll Garden -- birthplace of the Episcopal Church in the New World and graced by the only extant American garden planned by England's most venerated designer. In 1926, the famed English horticultural designer Gertrude Jekyll, widely considered the greatest gardener of the 20th century, was commissioned to plan an "old fashioned" garden to enhance the newly created musuem. The Glebe House garden includes 600 feet of classic English style mixed border and foundation plantings, a planted stone terrace, and an intimate rose allee. [ info ]
