Linnaeus Arboretum

The 55-acre Linnaeus Arboretum at Gustavus Adolphus College was named after Carl Linnaeus (1707-1778), the Swedish botanist who devised the nomenclature system used today to name organisms. Over 114 species of trees and shrubs with 682 trees in the formal arboretum alone. Displays three major natural ecosystems: northern conifer forests, prairies of the south and west, and deciduous forests from central Minnesota. Also features tall-grass native prairie; two restored wetland ponds; waterfall; rose garden (with bushes able to withstand Minnesota winters) and more.Located one hour southwest of the Twin Cities; 10 minutes north of Mankato/North Mankato [ info ]
