Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

A national historic landmark house and garden in Germantown, the Wyck gardens are widely known for its collection of old roses (over 30 varieties) which grow in their original plan from the 1820s. Today, many of the roses are grown from cuttings of the original roses. Besides the rose gardens, the two-acre site includes the park-like lawn with flower borders and spring bulbs; the herb and vegetable gardens; and the original outbuildings from the late 18th and early 19th-century -- the coach house, ice house and smoke house. Open to the public from April 1 through Dec. 13. [ info ]
