Bartrams Gardens

This 45-acre site showcases the pre-revolutionary home and garden of the Bartrams, America's pioneering family of naturalists, botanists and explorers. The garden, established in 1728 by John Bartram, is America’s oldest botanic garden devoted to the collection and study of North American plants. See the delicate Franklinia alatamaha (pictured), discovered and saved from extinction by John and William Bartram and named for John Bartram's friend, Benjamin Franklin. [ info ]
