The eight acres of gardens around this Classical Revival mansion include water features and alleys, wild, yellow, walled, and portico gardens, and a children’s discovery garden.A National Historic Landmark, the estate was designed in 1939-1942 for philanthropists Edgar Bloom Stern, a New Orleans cotton broker, and his wife Edith Rosenwald Stern, an heiress to the Sears-Roebuck fortune. Open Wednesday -Saturday 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.; Sunday 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.; Monday and Tuesday by special appointment.
