Begun in 2000, the West Virginia Botanic Garden is located near Morgantown on the 82-acre site of a former water reservoir. There’s an overall master plan, nevertheless this fledgling garden already has an Eclectic Garden, a Shade Garden, a Butterfly Garden, as well as native woodlands, meadows, wetlands and regularly scheduled educational walks.Well-marked trails include a one-mile accessible trail and 3-4 miles of woodland hiking trails. Free, open daily, dawn to dusk. Enter from the parking lot near the entrance on Tyrone Road.
