The National Cherry Blossom Festival celebrates springtime in Washington, DC, as well as the 1912 gift of the cherry blossom trees from the city of Tokyo to the people of Washington, DC. More than 3,700 cherry trees of various species grow around the Tidal Basin, at East Potomac Park, and on the Washington Monument grounds.
