Open daily May 2– Oct. 31.Near Canandaigua Lake, in the heart of the Finger Lakes, Sonnenberg (German for “sunny hill”) Gardens & Mansion is a 50-acre historic estate. The 40-room Queen Anne-style mansion was built in 1886 by New York City financier Frederick Ferris Thompson and his wife, Mary Clark Thompson. There is one of the few intact Lord & Burnham greenhouse complex and nine formal gardens: Japanese Garden, Sub-Rosa Garden, Rose Garden, Italian Garden, Blue and White Garden, Pansy Garden, Moonlight Garden, Old Fashioned Garden and Rock Garden.
